Agricultural symposium and avocado summit address regional industry regulation and sustainability
The First Andean Symposium on Agricultural Input Regulation is being held in Bogotá, Colombia, on October 26 and 27. Organized by Segetis S.A.S. at the Bogotá Chamber of Commerce, the event brings together authorities, researchers, and industry representatives to discuss the harmonization of regulations for agricultural products across the Andean region.
Key topics include input registration and control, risk assessment, residue limits, traceability, labeling, and industrial property. Participants include representatives from the Andean Community (CAN), Ecuador’s Agrocalidad, and Colombia’s ICA, alongside officials from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. The goal is to identify barriers in registration processes and coordinate institutional efforts to balance agricultural expansion with environmental protection.
Separately, the second Global Avocado Summit is scheduled for November 11 at the Monticello Conference Center. The summit will gather producers, exporters, and specialists from Chile, Peru, and Colombia to discuss the evolution of the global avocado industry. The agenda focuses on transitioning from rapid growth to industry consolidation through improved competitiveness, production efficiency, sustainability, and market access.
