Agricultural technologies target nitrogen efficiency and soil water retention

Agricultural challenges regarding nitrogen efficiency and water management are intensifying due to climate change, characterized by rising temperatures and alternating periods of drought and heavy rainfall. Nitrogen losses through leaching, denitrification, and ammonia volatilization can significantly reduce fertilizer effectiveness and increase environmental impact, with nitrate leaching potentially causing losses of up to 50% in extreme conditions.

Technological solutions such as Bactériosol and Bactériolit, based on the research of Marcel Mézy, aim to address these issues by promoting soil humification. These technologies utilize spontaneous composting microorganisms to create a rich microbial ecosystem that improves soil organic matter (SOM). Enhanced SOM helps increase water retention and nutrient availability while reducing nitrate leaching and erosion. Monitoring tools like TriSCAN capacity probes are used to measure water and mineral salt flows at various soil depths to track these improvements.
