Agricultural technology advances in Germany through biodiesel research and new tractor series
Agricultural technology developments are underway in Germany, focusing on both sustainable fuel research and new machinery series. At the Technology and Promotion Center (TFZ) in Straubing, researchers are conducting tests on a CLAAS XERION 12.650 TERRA TRAC large tractor to evaluate its performance using 100 percent biodiesel (B100). Scientists aim to determine if renewable liquid fuels are a viable alternative to electrification for heavy machinery, noting that an electric version of such a large tractor would require approximately 28 tons of batteries.
Separately, Deutz-Fahr has introduced new variants of its Series 8 large tractors in Karpfham. These models, including the 8280 TTV, are designed as high-performance, digitally networked machines for professional agriculture. The new series features engines from Fiat Power Train (FPT) providing up to 340 HP, continuously variable transmissions, and redesigned cabins with increased glass surfaces for better visibility.
