Agricultural technology initiatives advance in Paraguay and Venezuela
In Paraguay, the company Agroforestal San Isidro is developing biological agricultural inputs in Itapúa to reduce dependence on chemical products. Supported by the National Council of Science and Technology (Conacyt) through a green innovation initiative, the project focuses on producing biofertilizers, biofungicides, and microbiological insecticides using beneficial microorganisms and natural compounds. The company utilizes a laboratory for microorganism reproduction and a biodigester for organic matter treatment, and is currently working on the registration of its bio-factory.
In Venezuela, the Zulian Institute of Technological Research (INZIT) and the Venezuelan Institute for Scientific Research (IVIC) have formed a strategic alliance to advance the cocoa sector along the Maracaibo-Mérida axis. The collaboration involves multidisciplinary teams conducting soil characterization studies and systematic sampling to provide precise edaphological diagnostics. These scientific efforts aim to optimize nutrient use, improve crop yields, and enhance the quality of Venezuelan cocoa through continuous technical assistance.
