Agricultural training workshops advance sustainable farming in Cuba and Colombia

In Cárdenas, Cuba, a workshop at the Finca "Triana" brought together producers, researchers, students and municipal officials to share experience on cultivating oleaginous plants such as sesame, peanut and sunflower. The event, supported by the Estación Experimental de Pastos y Forrajes "Indio Hatuey" and the provincial value‑chain project, included tours of the fields, presentations on bioproducts, bee contributions and organic waste management.

In the San Francisco de Payán community of Córdoba, Colombia, the CAMPESENA program organized a training session led by instructor Gloria Elizabeth Tiarpusan. Participants learned to produce bio‑inputs, apply liquid biopreparations for fertilisation and pest control, and construct vertical gardens to optimise space and improve food security. Both initiatives aim to strengthen rural capacities, promote environmentally‑friendly practices and improve the competitiveness of local agriculture.
