Agriculture in Chieti-Pescara faces heavy losses from wildfires
The CIA Chieti-Pescara association has activated all its provincial offices to support agricultural businesses following devastating recent wildfires. In the Cupello area alone, an estimated 500 hectares of land, much of it cultivated, have been destroyed.
Domenico Bomba, president of CIA Chieti-Pescara, emphasized that the damage extends beyond immediate production losses. For permanent crops such as vineyards and olive groves, the impact includes damage to plants, loss of future production, and the high costs required for restoration of infrastructure and equipment.
The organization is calling on regional and local authorities to conduct a prompt official assessment of the damages. Farmers are being urged to document losses through photos and videos to facilitate the evaluation of potential support and compensation measures.
