Agriculture Minister Tánczos Barna orders acceleration of APIA inspections

Vice-Prime Minister and interim Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Tánczos Barna, has called for the acceleration of agricultural inspections for 2026. During a videoconference with the leadership of the Payment and Intervention Agency for Agriculture (APIA), the Minister set a deadline to complete field inspections by the end of September.

Currently, control teams have verified nearly 50% of the classic field control sample for 2026. Tánczos requested an analysis of counties facing difficulties to provide support and improve efficiency. Some counties have already exceeded 60% completion.

Regarding the 2025 campaign, over 98% of farmers have received subsidies, with total payments exceeding 2.6 billion euros. Counties such as Harghita, Brăila, Ilfov, Brașov, Covasna, and Ialomița reported payment rates exceeding 99%. The Minister urged APIA to finalize remaining payments from the previous year and clarify the status of any outstanding subsidies to ensure funds reach farmers promptly.
