Agrigento and Erba highlight local urban and cultural developments
In Agrigento, concerns have been raised regarding the deteriorating state of the city’s main thoroughfare, starting from Porta di Ponte and extending along Via Atenea. The area, historically considered the city’s ‘living room’ and a central hub for social interaction and commerce, has suffered from a lack of maintenance, poor lighting, and inadequate urban design. Observers note that the street has struggled to regain its former vitality and central role following the pandemic.
Meanwhile, in Erba, the Municipality and the Civic Museum, in collaboration with the University of the Third Age, have announced a lecture series titled ‘Erba. Luoghi, storie e personaggi’. Running from October 2026 to March 2027 at Sala Isacchi, the series will explore the town’s history through various lenses, including art, archaeology, and literature. The program begins with a lecture by Professor Francesco Pavesi regarding the sculptor Lucio Fontana and his connection to the Giuseppe Terragni war memorial in Erba.
