Agrigento commemorates magistrate Antonino Saetta and son

The province of Agrigento and the town of Canicattì are commemorating the 38th anniversary of the mafia ambush that killed magistrate Antonino Saetta and his son, Stefano.

On September 25, 1988, the pair was targeted by Cosa Nostra while traveling on the SS 640 highway near Agrigento. Antonino Saetta, 66, was a prominent and rigorous magistrate known for his independence and his potential role in presiding over the appeal stage of the Maxiprocesso in Palermo. His son, Stefano, 35, was killed alongside him during the attack.

The event remains a significant moment in the history of the Agrigento region. Local organizations, including Confcommercio Agrigento, have joined in the commemoration to honor the victims and reaffirm a commitment to the territory.
