Agrigento entrepreneurs receive modified house arrest in Mosella road tender probe

An investigation into a €3.2 million public contract for the maintenance of the Mosella road in Agrigento has led to new judicial developments. The judge of the Agrigento Court, Giuseppe Miceli, has replaced the previous precautionary measures for entrepreneurs Antonino Milioti and Dino Caramazza with a house arrest obligation (obbligo di dimora).

However, the change primarily benefits Milioti, as Caramazza remains under house arrest due to a separate investigation involving alleged bribes in the Municipality of Sommatino. Additionally, the Court of Review recently annulled an interdictory measure against Salvatore Castaldo, the project's director of works.

The investigation centers on Andiva srl, the company that won the tender on February 16. Prosecutors allege the company was created specifically for this purpose and registered to frontmen, Palillo and Valenti, to bypass anti-mafia controls and regulations. Authorities claim Milioti and Caramazza are the true controllers of the firm, which allegedly participated in the bidding process alongside other companies linked to the same entrepreneurial circles to rig the tender.

As part of the proceedings, authorities have seized €250,000 and placed Andiva srl under judicial administration. The seizure includes company assets, contracts, bank accounts, vehicles, and office equipment.
