Agrigento healthcare conference focuses on service pharmacy model

Healthcare professionals gathered at the Order of Pharmacists in Agrigento for a conference focused on the ‘Service Pharmacy’ model. The discussions centered on improving care for chronic patients through enhanced collaboration between pharmacists, general practitioners, and specialists.

Key topics included therapeutic adherence, ensuring patients follow prescribed treatments correctly, and pharmacovigilance. Carmelo Graceffa, a general practitioner and council member of the Agrigento Medical Order, emphasized that the true challenge lies in achieving clinical results rather than merely measuring prescription numbers.

Additionally, Francesco Pappalardo, a pharmacist and head of pharmacovigilance for the Catania ASP, highlighted the critical role of local pharmacists in monitoring drugs and medical devices to protect public health. The event aimed to establish strategies for better continuity of care and patient safety.
