Agrigento initiates process to reactivate Urban Center

The administration of Agrigento, led by Mayor Michele Sodano, has initiated the process to reactivate the city's Urban Center. This move follows a meeting between municipal officials and the Order of Architects of Agrigento.

The Urban Center is intended to serve as a permanent space for participation, design, and dialogue regarding the city's future. Key objectives include urban regeneration, planning for the historic center, territorial protection, and addressing climate change. The project aims to integrate various stakeholders, including professional orders, universities, trade associations, and civil society.

During the discussions, Alfonso Cimino, president of the Order of Architects, emphasized the need for concrete actions and the urgent approval of the General Urban Plan (PUG). This planning tool is seen as essential for managing land consumption and connecting different areas of the city, such as the San Leone waterfront and the Valley of the Temples.
