Agrigento LGBTQIA+ project receives national recognition

The Municipality of Agrigento’s “Liberi di esserci” project has received a special national mention at the first national congress titled “Psychiatry and LGBT and Gender People.” The event was organized by the Italian Psychiatric Society in collaboration with the University of L'Aquila.

The project, which operates as a municipal listening service for the LGBTQIA+ community, was presented as a territorial model for inclusion, listening, and combating discrimination. Sociologist and project coordinator Paola La Sala and cultural mediator Sina Graceffo presented the scientific contribution, detailing four years of field activity.

The presentation highlighted an operational model that combines theoretical frameworks with concrete services, such as psychological and social support, which experts noted could be replicated in other territorial contexts.
