Agrigento Mayor appoints new board for Fondazione Teatro Pirandello

Agrigento Mayor Michele Sodano has announced a new Board of Directors for the Fondazione Teatro Pirandello, following the resignation of the previous board. The newly appointed members are Osvaldo Lo Iacono, Silvia Giambrone, Giuseppe Innocente, and Maricetta Lombardo.

Mayor Sodano characterized the appointments as a move toward merit and competence, aiming to end political patronage. He noted that the new board members will serve without compensation. While the administration presents this as a significant shift in governance, the transition follows a period of tension between the municipality and the former board, which had previously declined to engage in institutional dialogue with the Mayor.

The new board is composed of recognized artists, intended to bring professional expertise to the foundation. However, the appointment process remains a point of local discussion, as the Mayor exercised his prerogative to select the members directly rather than through a public call for candidates.
