Agrigento prosecutors investigate 60 million euro procurement fraud

The Prosecutor's Office of Agrigento has launched an investigation into a suspected corruption ring involving approximately 60 million euros in public procurement contracts. Authorities have conducted searches and seizures to dismantle a network of officials, companies, and intermediaries accused of manipulating the awarding of public works.

The investigation focuses on several key infrastructure projects, including the water network in Agrigento, the stadium in Licata, a composting plant in Ravanusa, and works near the Belice river. One specific allegation involves a bribe of at least 135,000 euros intended to influence technical scores and the final awarding of a provincial road contract. Investigators are working to prevent the destruction of evidence and the concealment of relevant documents.
