Agrinio municipality faces scrutiny over reported 8 million euro deficit

The political faction ‘Agrinio – Pame Psila’, led by Kostas Pistiolas, has raised serious concerns regarding the financial stability of the Municipality of Agrinio. The group alleges that the municipality is facing a deficit approaching 8 million euros, according to the 2024 balance sheet and certified auditor reports.

Furthermore, the faction warns that if certain unfulfilled projections identified by auditors are factored in, the deficit could exceed 15 million euros. They also highlighted a cumulative municipal debt reaching approximately 24 million euros, with annual installments expected to exceed 1.7 million euros in the coming years.

Citing issues of transparency and accountability, the faction announced its withdrawal from a recent Municipal Council meeting. They are demanding a clear economic recovery plan and direct answers from the municipal administration regarding the management of public resources.
