Agritech platforms expand market access for African farmers

Agritech platforms in West and East Africa are working to optimize agricultural value chains by connecting smallholder farmers with investors and buyers.

In Ghana, Grow For Me, led by Nana Opoku Agyeman-Prempeh, operates a digital platform that facilitates access to financing, markets, and insurance. By aggregating local production and providing full traceability from supply to sale, the platform aims to reduce the number of intermediaries and improve margins for rural producers.

In Kenya, Farm to Feed has received a 150,000 euro investment from Proparco. The company utilizes a technological platform to coordinate fragmented agricultural supply with predictable buyer demand. This initiative seeks to address the issue of food waste—estimated at 50% for fruits and vegetables in sub-Saharan Africa—while improving income stability and market access for small-scale farmers.
