Italy labor and food safety inspections result in multiple business closures
A series of coordinated inspections across various Italian regions has led to the suspension of multiple businesses due to labor violations and food safety breaches.
In Cortale, Calabria, authorities suspended an agriturismo after discovering five employees working without contracts or insurance. Inspectors also seized nearly 40 kilograms of food products that were either stored in violation of hygiene regulations or lacked proper traceability labeling. Total sanctions for this incident reached approximately 25,000 euros.
In the province of Salerno, a large-scale operation by the Labor Inspectorate in San Valentino Torio, Battipaglia, and Bellizzi uncovered widespread undeclared labor. Out of eight restaurants and pizzerias inspected, 33 workers were found to be employed without contracts. Seven businesses were suspended, with total fines amounting to roughly 146,800 euros.
In Castenedolo, Brescia, a bar was closed following inspections by the Carabinieri and the Labor Inspectorate. The investigation revealed failures in mandatory health surveillance, lack of worker safety training, and the absence of a required risk assessment document. Two owners faced charges and fines exceeding 35,000 euros.
