Agrivoltaics World Conference concludes in New Delhi

The 7th Agrivoltaics World Conference 2026, hosted by India’s Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, concluded in New Delhi after three days of scientific and industry exchange. The event focused on the dual use of agricultural land for food production and solar power generation to enhance farm incomes and support the clean energy transition.

Participants, including policymakers, researchers, and farmers, discussed how agrivoltaics can address food security, energy access, and climate resilience, particularly within India and the Global South. Key technical discussions centered on agro-climatic zoning, crop selection, water-use efficiency, and innovative financing models.

A session co-convened by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) and the International Water Management Institute (IWMI) explored how scientific evidence, such as microclimatic impacts of solar arrays and shade-tolerant crop performance, can guide effective deployment across different agricultural zones.
