Agro Prom opens AI-driven tomato greenhouse in Armenia

Agro Prom has launched a high-tech, 10-hectare tomato greenhouse in the village of Nor Yedesia, located in Armenia’s Aragatsotn Province. The project represents an investment of approximately 9.7 billion drams (roughly $26.7 million) and was financed by Acba Bank.

The facility utilizes advanced automation, including the LUNA AI platform by IUNU to monitor crop health, ripeness, and pest pressure. Autonomous robots are used to scan plants and track tomato weight, feeding data into an AI system for analytics. To ensure high standards, the greenhouse uses Dutch seeds bred for virus resistance, avoids chemical agents, and maintains GLOBALG.A.P. certification for sustainable farming.

Annual production is projected to exceed 6,000 tons of tomatoes. The company aims to export the majority of its output to the European Union, the Middle East, and the United Arab Emirates, having already begun shipments to Dubai. Future expansion plans include a second 10-hectare greenhouse for peppers, as well as blueberry and grape orchards. Agro Prom also intends to implement its own refrigerated transport fleet by 2026 to maintain the cold chain from greenhouse to customer.
