Agro Simpa expands into Ukraine with new bee food plant in Odesa

Agro Simpa d. o. o., a Croatian company based in Sisak, is expanding its operations into Ukraine by launching a new bee food production plant in Odesa. This strategic project, conducted in partnership with the Ukrainian firm VRM AHRO LLC, marks the first time the company has organized production outside of Croatia.

The new facility is planned to have an annual capacity of 2,000 tons. Under the partnership structure, Agro Simpa will provide technical know-how, recipes, and protein supplements developed in Croatia, while VRM AHRO will manage local production and distribution within the Ukrainian market.

According to Agro Simpa Director Saša Simić, establishing production directly in Ukraine offers significant cost advantages, including lower prices for raw materials like sugar, as well as reduced labor and logistics costs compared to exporting finished products from Croatia. The move targets Ukraine’s large beekeeping sector, which includes approximately 2.3 million bee colonies and 187,000 beekeepers. The companies intend to proceed with the project despite the ongoing war, aiming to establish a strong market position by the time the conflict concludes.
