Agronomists offer support for wildfire recovery in Spain

The Official College of Agronomists of Central and Canary Islands has announced a series of support measures for farmers, livestock breeders, and the agri-food industry affected by recent wildfires. The organization is coordinating with regional authorities in agriculture, livestock, and the environment to assist in assessing damages to crops, livestock, pastures, buildings, machinery, and rural infrastructure.

To facilitate recovery, the College's Governing Board has approved a reduction in processing fees for visas and registrations related to reconstruction work in affected areas. Additionally, the organization will waive the 2027 annual membership fees for professionals whose tax residence is located in municipalities officially declared as wildfire-affected zones by the Directorate General for Civil Protection and Emergencies.

Dean Francisco González stated that the organization aims to provide the expertise of its more than 1,500 members to support the sector. The College's jurisdiction covers several provinces, including Ávila, Ciudad Real, Cuenca, Guadalajara, Las Palmas, Madrid, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Segovia, Soria, and Toledo.
