Agroseguro reports over 50 million euros in indemnities in Castilla-La Mancha
Agroseguro reports that agricultural insurance indemnities in Castilla-La Mancha have exceeded 50 million euros through September 2026. The payouts are a response to extreme weather patterns, including alternating periods of drought, heatwaves, and heavy rainfall causing floods.
Wine grapes recorded the highest losses at 19 million euros, followed by herbaceous crops at 11 million, vegetables at 8 million, and nut crops at 3 million. Speculative insurance accounted for 9 million euros. Approximately 85% of the total indemnities have already been paid out.
Regional agricultural officials noted that while recent storms have produced less hail than in previous years, the lack of consistent rainfall is causing significant concern among cereal farmers as they begin the new campaign.
