Agroterenas to convert degraded pastures into sugarcane plantations
Agroterenas (AGT) has finalized the technical and financial structuring of a project to convert degraded pasturelands into sugarcane plantations. The initiative is expected to receive approximately R$ 160 million in financing through the Eco Invest Brasil program, which aims to attract private capital for low-carbon agricultural transitions.
Structured and financed by Itaú BBA, the ten-year project covers areas in the Cerrado and Atlantic Forest biomes that currently face intermediate or severe degradation. By implementing specific agricultural practices, the project seeks to restore soil productivity. The estimated net revenue from sugar and ethanol production is approximately R$ 690 million.
