Polish agriculture faces challenges from climate change and farm consolidation

A new report titled ‘More Than a Profession: The Future of Agriculture in the Eyes of Practitioners’ highlights significant shifts in the Polish agricultural sector. Over the last decade, the number of farms in Poland has decreased by 200,000, raising concerns regarding food security and the economic viability of farming for younger generations.

Practitioners identify climate change, water shortages, and rising production costs—driven by volatile fuel and fertilizer prices—as primary threats to stability. The report, developed by the Institute of Sustainable Economy and the Climate&Strategy Foundation, emphasizes the need for new perspectives to address market, climatic, and regulatory challenges as the industry moves toward 2050.
