Hermanos Serdán Airport to receive 1 billion peso investment

The Hermanos Serdán International Airport in Puebla will undergo a major modernization project involving an investment of over 1 billion pesos. A partnership between the Government of Puebla and Grupo Mundo Maya aims to increase the airport's capacity from 1.4 million to 5 million passengers. The project includes terminal expansion, improved operational areas, parking upgrades, and the development of an airport district featuring a 15,000-square-meter commercial area with shops, restaurants, and a hotel.

Governor Alejandro Armenta Mier noted that this is the largest investment in the airport's 40-year history. The expansion seeks to boost regional tourism and connectivity, with plans to add a flight to Chicago and integrate with upcoming passenger rail projects.

In other regional developments, Puebla is advancing an Integral Mobility System aimed at transforming public transport by 2030, including cable car systems and unified payment methods. Meanwhile, in Toluca, the municipal government is implementing several infrastructure projects, including the construction of ten school roof structures and the Las Jaras-Barranca Grande wastewater collector to improve regional connectivity and hydraulic services. Additionally, roadwork and water network rehabilitations are underway in Puerto Vallarta and various Puebla neighborhoods to improve local mobility and sanitation.
