Agua Negra Pass: Crews clear Route 150 following heavy snow

Vialidad Nacional is conducting intensive clearing operations on National Route 150 to facilitate the reopening of the Agua Negra Pass. Following a severe winter, crews are working to remove heavy snow, thick ice layers, and significant avalanches that have obstructed vehicle passage.

Operations are being coordinated by the 9th District of San Juan, focusing initially on paved sections near the Guardia Vieja National Gendarmerie post. Technical teams are facing extreme weather conditions, including intense winds, sub-zero temperatures, and persistent snowfall. To expedite the process and ensure connectivity before the summer season, the agency plans to deploy additional high-mountain equipment to reach elevations near 5,000 meters above sea level.
