Aguas Araucanía and Nuevosur sign deals to aid Chile fire brigades

Aguas Araucanía and the regional fire service signed a one‑year agreement that exempts up to 100 cubic metres of water per month for 65 fire stations across 34 localities in the Araucanía region. The exemption is expected to save the fire service about 4.5 million Chilean pesos each month. The pact was signed by Javier Pizarro, president of the Araucanía Fire Council, and Milton Morales, Aguas Araucanía’s client‑services manager.

Separately, the water utility Nuevosur entered a collaboration with the Bomberos de Rauco. The agreement lets customers make voluntary contributions to the fire brigade through their water bills and includes joint training, operational support and coordinated emergency response activities. Both utilities say the initiatives strengthen community safety and provide financial relief to volunteer firefighters.
