Aguascalientes athletes win 48 medals at Mexico's National Master Athletics Championship
Athletes from the Mexican state of Aguascalientes captured a total of 48 medals at the 2026 National Master Athletics Championship, which took place from July 30 to August 2 in Guadalajara, Jalisco. The delegation earned 19 gold, 21 silver and eight bronze medals across track, field, race walking, combined events and relays, confirming the state's prominence in master‑level competition.
Standout performers included Francisco Flores Medina, who secured six gold and two silver medals in the 85‑89 age group, and Gloria Esparza Cornejo, who added four gold and three silver medals in the 65‑69 category. Martha Torres Olvera triumphed as a three‑time national champion in race walking (60‑64), while Roberto Patrón Galván won gold in the 3,000‑ and 5,000‑metre races (30‑34).
