Aguascalientes Governor strengthens ties with Canada

During a working visit to Canada, the Governor of Aguascalientes, Tere Jiménez, met with various officials and organizations to strengthen academic, scientific, and economic ties between the Mexican state and Canada.

Jiménez signed a collaboration agreement with Mitacs, an organization focused on research and innovation, to promote academic mobility. This agreement aims to link universities in Aguascalientes with Canadian companies and research centers, providing students and researchers with access to scholarships and international training. Additionally, discussions were held with Languages Canada to explore ways to strengthen English and French language instruction in Aguascalientes educational institutions.

The Governor also met with Francis Scarpaleggia, Speaker of the House of Commons of Canada, to discuss the Mexico-Canada Action Plan 2025-2028. The talks focused on economic cooperation, mobility, security, and sustainability. Jiménez emphasized that Aguascalientes is prepared to participate in this agenda by leveraging its automotive industry and specialized talent in sectors such as semiconductors and artificial intelligence. Further meetings were held with the Mexican Ambassador to Canada, Carlos Manuel Joaquín González, to explore economic, educational, and tourism cooperation.
