Aguascalientes Governor Tere Jiménez seeks Canadian investment
Governor Tere Jiménez of the Mexican state of Aguascalientes concluded a trade mission in the United States before traveling to Canada to cement strategic partnerships. In Canada she met with Flavio Volpe, president of the Canadian Auto Parts Manufacturers Association, and Erin Cheney of Ontario Global 100 to discuss collaboration on automotive investment, innovation and the development of local suppliers.
She also held discussions with executives from Restaurant Brands International, the owner of the Tim Hortons coffee‑and‑donut chain, to explore the possibility of opening a Tim Hortons outlet in Aguascalientes. Additional meetings included Elizabeth Wright of the Cottonwood Agency to promote the state's wines and mezcal in the Ontario market, a visit to the MaRS innovation centre, and talks with the Mexican consul in Toronto and Canadian MP Vince Gasparro on broader economic and industrial cooperation. The governor highlighted Aguascalientes’ stability, strategic location, skilled workforce and favorable investment climate throughout the talks.
