Aguascalientes ranks in top three for regional economic performance

Aguascalientes has ranked among the top three states for economic performance in the Bajío region, according to the 2026 Economic Traffic Light report by the organization México ¿Cómo Vamos?. For the first quarter of 2026, the state earned 80 points, significantly exceeding the national average of 66.8 points.

Key indicators showing improvement include a reduction in labor poverty, which fell from 33.6% in 2025 to 27.2% in 2026, notably lower than the national average of 30.7%. Additionally, the state reported a productivity rate of 230 pesos per hour worked, surpassing the national average of 222 pesos.

Esaú Garza de Vega, the Secretary of Economic Development, Science, and Technology, stated that these results reflect a favorable environment for business growth driven by public policies that provide legal certainty and strengthen competitiveness. The state also maintains a positive fiscal position, investing 2.48 pesos in public investment for every peso allocated to debt service.
