Aguascalientes reports educational progress and economic growth projections
Aguascalientes has achieved significant educational milestones, ranking second nationally in the proportion of students transitioning from primary school to university completion. According to the Mexican Institute for Competitiveness (IMCO), the state also holds the third highest national average for years of schooling, at 11 years. These results follow initiatives by the administration of Governor Tere Jiménez, including the creation of 32 new schools and a 40.8 percent increase in the scholarship budget for 2026.
On the economic front, the Secretariat of Economic Development, Science, and Technology (Sedecyt) anticipates a positive outlook for 2026, driven by increased foreign direct investment and new industrial projects. The state is focusing on diversifying its productive sectors into innovation, semiconductors, electromobility, and information technology. While the United States currently accounts for over 80 percent of the state's international sales, authorities are working to expand market presence in Canada and Europe.
