Aguiar-Branco launches Madeira Week in Parliament

José Pedro Aguiar-Branco, President of the Assembly of the Republic, has launched the ‘Madeira Week’ initiative within the Parliament. The program is designed to foster a closer understanding of the realities and challenges facing the people of Madeira.

During his speech, Aguiar-Branco expressed his strong support for regional autonomy, describing it as a vital component for territorial cohesion and national development. He noted that his belief in autonomy is rooted in both theoretical conviction and practical political experience, citing his past roles as a parliamentary leader and Minister of National Defense.

The event was attended by several regional officials, including Rubina Leal, President of the Madeira Regional Legislative Assembly, and various deputies elected from the Madeira constituency.
