Aguilar de la Frontera Fair Arches Restored, Almería Fair Unveils New Portal

The Feria Real in Aguilar de la Frontera opened its night of August 2 with the official inauguration of the restored arches that mark the fair’s main entrance. The ceremony was attended by mayor Paqui Herrador, members of the municipal government, the restoration firm Mitronar, and representatives of Ceramica Alcaide, which supplied the ceramic tiles. Local artist Ricardo Llamas León designed the new ceramic composition that now decorates the arches, preserving the historic symbol while giving it a refreshed appearance for the upcoming fair.

Meanwhile, in Almería, work is underway on the new “Casa de las Mariposas” portal that will serve as the fair’s main gateway. The structure will stand 27.5 m tall, span 3.5 m in width, weigh about 68 tonnes and consist of 117 decorative modules mounted on a steel‑frame and concrete base. The project, costing roughly €930 000, replaces the 2017 portal and is intended to remain in place for at least the next five editions of the Feria de Almería.
