Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono emphasizes importance of leadership and generational continuity

Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY), the Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development, emphasized the enduring importance of leadership during a book launch in Jakarta on Wednesday. Addressing the impact of rapid technological advancement, Yudhoyono rejected the notion that progress allows systems to run on “autopilot,” arguing that human leadership and managerial capacity remain essential for organizational and societal success.

Yudhoyono also highlighted that true leadership should focus on long-term sustainability rather than short-term political gains. He stated, “True leadership is not about the next election, it is about the next generation.” He argued that leaders must prioritize preparing the next generation to complete unfinished tasks and address future challenges, including environmental issues and equitable development, through cross-sector collaboration.
