Agustín Orión claims media pressure forced his Boca Juniors exit
Former goalkeeper Agustín Orión has claimed that media pressure influenced his departure from Boca Juniors ten years ago. Speaking on the program ‘Todo por la misma’, Orión stated, “Without a doubt, they operated on me so that I would leave,” referring to the influence of journalists' opinions during the end of his tenure.
Orión’s final match for the club was the 2016 Copa Libertadores semifinal against Independiente del Valle, where a failed pass contributed to the opponent's goal and the team's elimination. Despite the criticism, Orión noted that he remains one of the goalkeepers with the most appearances in the club's history.
Additionally, Orión addressed a 2013 training incident involving Leandro Paredes, where a heavy tackle resulted in a serious injury for the young midfielder. Orión described it as “one of the ugliest things I have had to live through in football,” though he noted they have since spoken and reconciled.
