AGV unveils Pista GP R3 racing helmet for MotoGP
AGV has unveiled the Pista GP R3, the latest evolution of its iconic racing helmet designed for MotoGP, Moto2, and Moto3 riders. The helmet is scheduled to be used by AGV riders starting with the 2026 San Marino and Rimini Riviera Grand Prix in Misano.
The Pista GP R3 features a full carbon fiber shell and introduces the AGV Sphera system powered by RLS technology. This system is specifically engineered to manage oblique impacts and rotational accelerations. It utilizes an outer layer separated from the shell by a matrix of hundreds of microspheres, which is designed to separate in a controlled manner during an impact to dissipate energy.
According to AGV, independent testing conducted by the Institute of Engineering Research at the University of Zaragoza indicates that this technology can make the risk of concussion six times less likely during oblique impacts. The helmet was developed in accordance with the new FIM FRHPhe-02 safety standards.
