Turkish Court Appoints Trustees to Ahbap Association, Suspends Activities

The Istanbul 29th Asliye Hukuk Mahkemesi ordered the temporary suspension of all activities of Ahbap Derneği pending the outcome of a dissolution lawsuit. The court appointed a three‑person management trustee board—Prof. Dr. Ahmet Kasım Han, Av. Rıdvan Can and Av. Mustafa Göktuğ Kaya—to oversee the association’s operations and protect its assets.

The prosecution alleges that the nonprofit, founded by singer Haluk Levent, has become a hub for criminal conduct, including misuse of earthquake‑relief donations, money‑laundering, fraudulent transfers and irregular property transactions. The court’s decision also mandates sealing the association’s premises and transferring control of movable and immovable assets to the trustees until the case is finally resolved.

The trustees are authorized to manage the association’s affairs, safeguard its property, and ensure compliance with official procedures while the legal proceedings continue.
