Sudewo faces 8.5-year prison demand in Pati corruption case

Several Indonesian regional leaders are facing legal developments regarding corruption and bribery cases.

In Semarang, the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has demanded an 8.5-year prison sentence and a 300 million IDR fine for the inactive Regent of Pati, Sudewo. The charges involve alleged bribery related to projects at the Directorate General of Railways (DJKA) and irregularities in village official appointments. Sudewo has rejected the prosecution's claims, stating that trial testimonies do not prove his direct involvement or the receipt of funds, and his legal team plans to submit a defense (pledoi).

In Madiun, the KPK is expanding its investigation into inactive Mayor Maidi to include potential money laundering. This follows corruption charges involving project fees and CSR funds.

In Sidoarjo, former Regent Ahmad Muhdlor Ali (Gus Muhdlor) has been granted conditional release from the Surabaya Class I Prison after serving part of his sentence for corruption related to ASN incentive funds.

In Ponorogo, the local government is processing the permanent dismissal of inactive Regent Sugiri Sancoko following a final court ruling on bribery and gratification charges. The administration is currently awaiting official documentation from the Surabaya District Court to finalize the process.
