Ahmad Zahid denies audience with Tuanku Muhriz

Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has stated that neither he nor Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar Ismail Lasim were summoned for an audience with the Yang di-Pertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan, Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir. Zahid noted that he and the Menteri Besar only learned of recent developments regarding the state's political situation through media reports.

The clarification follows reports that Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim visited the Istana Negeri Sembilan to meet with the ruler. The political tension stems from the palace's decision to revoke the appointments of 10 state executive councillors (MMKN) effective immediately. The palace stated the revocation was due to the councillors violating their oath of office following a joint statement that endorsed the removal of Tuanku Muhriz as the state ruler.

Zahid emphasized that the dispute involves complex legal interpretations of power and constitutional jurisdiction. He stressed that the issue should be resolved amicably within the state while respecting existing legal provisions and the established royal institutions in Negeri Sembilan.
