Malaysian leaders deny Unity Government instability

Malaysian political leaders have addressed recent speculations regarding the stability of the Unity Government. Democratic Action Party (DAP) Secretary-General Anthony Loke Siew Fook stated there is no necessity to dissolve Parliament as long as Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim maintains a majority. Loke emphasized that the remaining 15 months of the parliamentary term should focus on implementing agreed-upon reforms, such as separating the roles of the Attorney-General and Public Prosecutor and limiting the Prime Minister's tenure to two terms.

Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi denied reports of growing tension between himself and Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim. Responding to claims that Cabinet meetings were being cut short due to friction, Zahid clarified that meetings concluded at their usual time and noted that he continues to work closely with both the Prime Minister and Transport Minister Anthony Loke. Zahid reaffirmed that Umno remains committed to the Unity Government through the end of the 15th Parliament term, following a unanimous resolution by party delegates.
