Ahmadiyya Muslim Community Suriname celebrates 70 years

The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community Suriname (AMGS) recently celebrated its 70th anniversary, marking seven decades of presence in the country from 1956 to 2026. The milestone was commemorated during the 45th annual Jalsa Salana Suriname convention, held from August 28 to August 30.

The convention featured discussions on themes including the Holy Qur’an, Khilafat (spiritual leadership), moral and spiritual reform, justice, and world peace. The event also highlighted the historical development of the community within Suriname and emphasized social responsibility, education, and the role of women and families.

International representatives from the Netherlands, Trinidad and Tobago, and Guyana attended the festivities. The event saw broad participation from Surinamese society, including government officials, parliamentarians, and representatives from various religious and social organizations. Notable messages of support were delivered by National Assembly Chairman Ashwin Adhin and Director of BiZa Nasier Eskak.
