Ahmadu Bello University VC urges responsible AI use
Prof. Adamu Ahmed, Vice-Chancellor of Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, has advised postgraduate students to use Artificial Intelligence responsibly. Speaking during the 2025/2026 matriculation ceremony, Ahmed emphasized that emerging technologies should complement, rather than replace, critical thinking, independent scholarship, and academic supervision.
Ahmed cautioned students against plagiarism, fabricated references, and presenting machine-generated material as original work. He urged students to verify all AI-generated information and maintain accountability for the integrity of their research. To support academic success, the university is repositioning its Postgraduate College to improve academic supervision, communication, and access to services while enforcing clearer academic timelines.
