Ahmed al Ahmed: Bondi Beach hero's assault charges dropped

Police have withdrawn domestic violence and stalking charges against Ahmed al Ahmed, the man recognized for disarming a gunman during the December 14 terror attack at Bondi Beach. The charges stemmed from an alleged March altercation in which police claimed al Ahmed placed his father in a headlock.

While the criminal charges were dropped at Bankstown Local Court, an apprehended domestic violence order protecting his father, Mohammad Fadeh al Ahmed, will remain in effect for 12 months.

Separately, al Ahmed’s brothers, Hozifa and Sameh al Ahmed, remain in court facing charges of verbal threats and an alleged attempt to extort $200,000 from him during a phone call. Both brothers have pleaded not guilty. An interim protection order currently prevents them from approaching Ahmed al Ahmed or his residence.
