Ahmed bin Farid accuses Yemeni leader of falsifying history regarding Sheikh Zayed

Political analyst Ahmed Omar bin Farid has accused Dr. Abdulwahab al-Rouhani, a former Yemeni Minister of Culture and leader in the General People's Congress, of falsifying historical facts regarding the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and Yemeni unification.

The controversy stems from remarks made by al-Rouhani on the ‘Yemen Podcast,’ in which he claimed that Sheikh Zayed suggested seeking to divide Yemen into multiple states following the Gulf War. Bin Farid characterized these claims as “fabrication” against a figure known for wisdom and balance, noting that such statements lack documented evidence and violate diplomatic protocols.

Bin Farid further addressed historical stances, asserting that Sheikh Zayed and the UAE opposed the use of force to impose unification during the 1994 summer war. He also disputed al-Rouhani’s accounts regarding the invasion of Kuwait, arguing that former Vice President Ali Salem al-Beidh had called for an immediate Iraqi withdrawal, contrasting this with the positions held by the late President Ali Abdullah Saleh and the General People's Congress.
