Ahmed Al-Awadi apologizes to Yasmine Abdel Aziz after car analogy controversy

Egyptian actor Ahmed Al-Awadi has issued a public apology following controversy sparked by remarks made during an appearance on the Lebanese program ‘My Story’. During the interview, Al-Awadi used an analogy comparing his first car to his current one to describe different stages of his life and career. However, social media users interpreted the comparison as a metaphor for his past romantic relationships, specifically targeting his former partner, actress Yasmine Abdel Aziz.

In a clarification posted to Facebook, Al-Awadi stated that his comments were intended to reflect personal progress and were not meant to insult or allude to any personal relationships. He expressed deep respect for Abdel Aziz, calling her the ‘leading star of the Arab world’ and stating that he owes her much for his career success.

The incident drew criticism from media personalities. Radwa El Sherbiny argued that the apology should extend to all women in the Arab world, stating that comparing women to cars is an offensive form of expression. Similarly, Yasmine El Khatib criticized the actor, noting that true masculinity is defined by respect for women rather than the metaphors used.
