Ahmed Hajjar orders stricter traffic law enforcement in Lebanon
Lebanese Minister of Interior and Municipalities, Ahmed Hajjar, chaired an emergency meeting of the National Committee for Traffic Safety to address rising traffic accident rates. The meeting included representatives from relevant ministries, departments, and traffic safety organizations.
Data from the Internal Security Forces revealed that during the second half of August, 40% of accidents were caused by a lack of driver concentration, while 33% were attributed to excessive speeding.
Minister Hajjar instructed the Internal Security Forces to strictly enforce traffic laws and take necessary measures to penalize violations. He emphasized that road safety is a shared responsibility, calling for a transition from mere recommendations to actual implementation, including improved road maintenance and increased awareness campaigns regarding safe driving and speed limits.
