Ahmed Ibrahim describes ministerial reassignment as divine intervention

Ahmed Ibrahim, the new Minister for Works, Housing and Water Resources, has characterized his recent ministerial reassignment as ‘divine intervention’. Ibrahim was moved from the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs as part of a reshuffle announced by President John Mahama on August 7, 2026.

During a handing-over ceremony on September 1, Ibrahim recounted that he was delivering a sermon at the Global Evangelical Church when he received news of the reshuffle. He noted that he was handed a Bible while on the pulpit, an event he views as a significant sign. Ibrahim stated that the presence of the Christian Council at the transition ceremony further reinforced his belief that the move was divinely guided.

Mahama Ayariga has officially taken over the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, marking the formal conclusion of the leadership transition.
