Ahmedabad sports bid: Amit Shah reviews 2036 Olympics and major games

Union Home Minister Amit Shah chaired a review meeting in Ahmedabad to assess India’s preparations for several major international sporting events. The discussions focused on India’s bid for the 2036 Olympic Games, with Ahmedabad proposed as the primary host city, and preparations for the 2029 World Police and Fire Games.

Additionally, the meeting addressed the hosting of the 2030 Commonwealth Games, which Ahmedabad has already been formally ratified to host. The 2030 event will mark the centenary of the first Commonwealth Games.

To support these ambitions, the government is expanding local sports infrastructure, including the construction of the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Sports Enclave. Shah emphasized the government’s commitment to establishing India as a global sporting destination.
